Deal Summary

Mattioli Woods has acquired KRD Financial Advisers Limited, a West Midlands-based financial planning firm overseeing more than £400m in client assets.

The transaction was completed through Mattioli Woods' Retiring Adviser programme, which provides succession and retirement solutions for independent financial advice business owners. The deal takes Mattioli Woods' total assets under advice and management to more than £32bn.

About Mattioli Woods

Mattioli Woods is a Leicester-headquartered wealth management and employee benefits group founded in 1991 by Ian Mattioli and Bob Woods. The firm was taken private in 2024 in a £432m deal backed by private equity firm Pollen Street Capital, and in 2025 merged with Kingswood Group to create a combined business with more than £25bn in assets. Peter Mann took over as chief executive in late 2025, succeeding co-founder Ian Mattioli, who moved into the role of founding president.

About KRD Financial Advisers

KRD Financial Advisers was founded in 2005 by Kevin Bissell and operates from Hagley, near Stourbridge. David Jones is also a director of the business.

KRD provides independent advice across pensions, investments, mortgages, protection, later-life planning and estate planning for over 1,000 households, overseeing more than £400m of client assets.

Why Is Mattioli Woods Acquiring KRD Financial Advisers?

KRD was a good fit for Mattioli Woods’ Retiring Adviser programme, which provides succession and retirement options for financial advice firm owners while transferring client relationships to dedicated Mattioli Woods advisers. Kevin Bissell described choosing a successor as one of the most important decisions an adviser can make, citing shared values and a client-first approach as the basis for the deal. The acquisition also expands Mattioli Woods’ presence in the Midlands and adds an established regional client base to the group.

What Happens Next?

KRD clients will be transitioned to dedicated Mattioli Woods advisers through a structured process intended to maintain long-term relationships and minimise disruption. Mattioli Woods said clients will continue to receive personalised advice while gaining access to the group’s wider investment capabilities and specialist expertise.
