Succession Wealth Bridges New Opportunities with True Wealth Group Acquisition into Northern Ireland

18th November 2024

Succession Wealth has announced its acquisition of True Wealth Group, a financial planning and wealth management firm based in Leeds. The acquisition brings £1.1bn in assets under advice to Succession’s expanding portfolio. It also marks Succession’s first entry into Northern Ireland, adding True Wealth’s office in Belfast to its network, which includes four other locations across the UK.

Co-founded by John Baxter and Tim Crew, True Wealth Group has provided financial planning, wealth management, and consultancy services for over 20 years. Since 2017, the firm has grown by acquiring various financial advice practices and companies that support advisers, resulting in a group of 10 companies dedicated to delivering exceptional client service.

Roger Marsden, CEO of Succession Wealth, commented on the significance of this acquisition concerning Succession’s long-term growth strategy: “This acquisition enhances our presence in northern England and extends our footprint into Northern Ireland, reinforcing our position as the independent national wealth planning firm of choice.”

John Baxter, co-founder of True Wealth Group, shared similar sentiments, emphasising that Succession’s values and client-centric philosophy made it the perfect partner. “We spoke to dozens of firms, but only partnering with Succession gave us the confidence that we wouldn’t have to compromise on our offering or our core value of delivering an evidence-based investment philosophy.”

Succession Wealth's recent acquisition marks its fifth under Aviva ownership and its third in 2024. This follows the company's recent DFP Health & Wealth Management and London Wall Partners purchases. Collectively, these acquisitions bring in £2.2bn in client assets, underscoring Succession’s commitment to expanding its operations while maintaining its focus on independent advice.

This deal highlights the broader consolidation trend in financial planning and wealth management. Firms increasingly seek partners to provide stability, scalable growth, and enhanced client services. In this competitive environment, aligning with the right partner has become essential for businesses aiming for sustainable success.
