Baggette + Co was established in Poole in 1986 by founder Keith Baggette and underwent a management buyout in 2023 by independent financial adviser Oscar Hjälmås and business adviser Jo Hjälmås. Since the buyout, the firm has expanded to more than 30 professionals, supporting clients across Dorset, Bournemouth, Hampshire and the wider South Coast. The firm holds Chartered Financial Planning status and operates as a whole-of-market independent firm, a distinction that Oscar Hjalmas, now CEO, has made central to the firm's growth strategy.

Why is Baggette + Co acquiring Burgess Williams?
Philip Williams' decision centred on finding a buyer that matched his own values and could provide continuity for clients. Williams said he would only sell to a firm that was genuinely independent, and Baggette + Co's whole-of-market, Chartered status made it a natural fit. Oscar Hjalmas noted that Baggette + Co is seeing a growing number of retiring advisers who make independence a condition of any sale, driven by a desire to ensure clients retain impartial, whole-of-market advice after they step away.
What happens next?
The acquisition has completed. Burgess Williams' clients have joined Baggette + Co's team in Poole. Philip Williams is remaining closely involved in a non-advisory role to support a smooth client transition.
