Fairstone has strengthened its presence in East Anglia by acquiring Norfolk-based Allen Tomas & Co, which adds £120m in client assets and more than 260 clients to its portfolio. This deal follows just weeks after Fairstone celebrated its 100th DBO transaction, underscoring the firm's ongoing momentum in consolidating the UK financial advice market.
Allen Tomas & Co, located in Dersingham near King’s Lynn, was founded in 2014 and is led by independent financial planners Ben Allen and Michael Crisp. The firm provides investment, retirement planning, and wealth management services to both individuals and businesses and first partnered with Fairstone through its DBO programme in July 2023.
The DBO model offers firms infrastructure, compliance, and growth support during a partnership phase before a full acquisition is finalised. This approach ensures continuity for clients, allowing advisers to focus on building client relationships and expanding their businesses.
For Allen and Crisp, the appeal of joining Fairstone lies in its ability to blend national-scale resources with a commitment to maintaining chartered, independent status. This ensures that clients have access to whole-of-market advice while benefiting from Fairstone’s IT capabilities and extensive network.
This acquisition aligns with Fairstone’s ambitious target of doubling its client assets under management from £20bn to £40bn by 2030, with East Anglia highlighted as a key growth region. Russell Bignall, the group managing director, emphasised that the DBO model remains central to this strategy. He noted that recent earnout results have seen firms achieving between 120% and 180% of their initial sale value.
Through this deal, Fairstone continues to position itself as a consolidator capable of delivering growth-focused partnerships while preserving the independence and client-first ethos of the firms it acquires.
