Saltus, a private equity-backed consolidator, has acquired Delta Financial Management, based in Hertfordshire. This acquisition adds £400m in AUM and 500 clients to Saltus's portfolio. As a result, Saltus's total AUM increases to £8.8bn, solidifying its position among the UK's top 20 private equity-backed advisory firms.
Delta Financial Management, recognised for serving media professionals and British Airways pilots, was co-founded by directors Jarrod Ellis and Amin Malik. They completed a management buyout from Sopher + Co in 2016. Both Ellis and Malik will join Saltus as partners, and all nine Delta employees, including three advisers, will be retained after the acquisition.
Ellis pointed to increasing regulatory demands as a key reason for the decision to sell. He explained, "As a relatively small firm, if something happens to one of the directors, we need a bigger infrastructure to support our clients and staff." He emphasised that Saltus's client-focused approach, rather than solely focusing on asset acquisition, was a significant factor in the decision.
Michael Stimpson, Saltus partner and director of acquisitions, described Delta as "a high-calibre business with a strong advice-led culture, excellent financials, and a clear commitment to delivering long-term value to clients." He also noted that Delta's platform providers are aligned with those used by Saltus, which will simplify the integration process.
The integration process is expected to take 12 months, with client transitions to Saltus's investment proposition being handled on an individual basis. This acquisition follows Saltus's recent purchases of Lowes Financial Management and Tavistock Partners Limited, as the firm continues its strategic expansion under the majority ownership of Preservation Capital Partners.
