Skerritts Group has announced the acquisition of Ellis Bates Financial Advisers, strengthening its national expansion and presence in North England. This strategic acquisition, which will be completed on 30 September 2024, adds over £1bn in assets under management (AUM). It marks Skerritts' eleventh deal since partnering with Sovereign Capital Partners in 2021. The partnership, supported by a £55m investment, has driven both organic growth and a "Buy and Build" strategy, expanding Skerritts’ footprint across the UK.
In addition to this acquisition, Skerritts is pleased to welcome Grant Hotson as its new Chief Financial Officer. Hotson brings over 25 years of experience in asset and wealth management from his leadership roles at Ignis Asset Management, Smith & Williamson, and The Openwork Partnership. His track record, including a decade in public practice and his membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, positions him as a key player in driving Skerritts' financial strategy during this period of growth.
Paul Feeney, CEO of Skerritts, expressed his excitement about both the acquisition and Hotson’s appointment, saying, “This acquisition continues our mission of becoming Britain’s Premier Chartered Financial Planner.” Michael Cope, Managing Director of Ellis Bates, also praised the alignment of values between the two firms, stating, “Paul’s vision and client-centric approach stood out to us.”
As the financial services industry consolidates, Skerritts' strategic moves highlight its ambition for growth and leadership.
