Private equity firm August Equity has acquired a majority stake in The Superbia Group, the parent company of Furnley House, which is based in Leicestershire and manages approximately £510m in AUA.
This deal involves the complete buyout of existing shareholders and also includes Headley Financial Services in Basingstoke, Anchor Wealth in Scotland, and discretionary fund manager Asset Intelligence, which joined the group in 2019. Collectively, The Superbia Group now serves over 2,500 clients, employs around 80 staff, and has a support office in Chennai, India.
While financial terms were not disclosed, the transaction was supported by debt funding from private credit firm Ares. This reflects an ongoing interest among lenders to back scalable, vertically integrated advisory businesses with recurring revenue and regional strength.
Stefan Fura, the founder of Furnley House, will continue to play a significant role in the group’s growth strategy. August Equity partner Kishan Chotai highlighted that the firm had been searching for the right platform in the IFA sector for over two years and was particularly impressed by the integrated model that Fura and his team had developed.
The Superbia Group reported £4.7m in revenue and £86,000 in pre-tax profit for the year ending March 2024. While this indicates modest profitability, the firm has a well-established infrastructure poised for growth.
August Equity has extensive experience in lower mid-market investing, with a portfolio that spans various sectors, including education, care, and technology. The firm also owns AAB Group, a rapidly growing accountancy and advisory business in Scotland.
This acquisition strengthens Superbia’s position as a regional consolidator with national ambitions, supported by a private equity house experienced in building scalable, multi-disciplinary platforms. It underscores the growing importance of brand strength, back-office efficiency, and cultural compatibility in preparing firms for accelerated expansion..
